From Jon Bankert:
In July 2000, the Vest Pocket Playhouse will be offering two plays of Euripides.  The Bacchae is his last tragedy, and The Cyclops is the only satyr play that has been preserved from classical Greece.  At the great theater competition of Athens, the Dionysia, playwrights were required to enter three tragedies and a satyr play.  Some scholars believe it is impossible to appreciate the Dionysian character of these festivals without the performance of both types of play.  Don't miss this chance to see the two sides of Euripedes juxtaposed!

Jon is back from a professional meeting in Greece!  From his e-mail to Gigi:
Well, I'm back . . . Greece was just more wonderful than I could have imagined.  It was so incredibly beautiful, the people were so welcoming.  I sat for a couple of hours in the Theater of Dionysus in Athens, and just soaked up the vibes. . .  The meeting on Paros was great, too. . . I did the premier of Bacchae on Paros, to great acclaim. They were, of course, as enchanted by the TT form as by my performance.
