TOY THEATRE FRONTS: First two theatre fronts are Stephen Langdale creations based on his own historical research; the rest of the list are 19th century fronts from a variety of publishers, which he has painstakingly restored to something close to their original condition.
LANGDALE'S THEATRE ROYAL DRURY LANE: This front was created from drawings of Holland's conversion of the theatre in 1797 which would have been how it looked when the first toy theatre sheets were published. This is an elaborate 3D front with front of curtain entrances, orchestra and an auditorium to screen operator. Originally designed to present Langdale's "Treasure Island" but would be excellent for "Harlequin Jack and the Beanstalk". It consists of 30 large sheets, full instructions and an account of its design... $45.00.
LANGDALE'S FLAT THEATRE ROYAL DRURY LANE: A much simpler flat version of the above theatre with a 2D copy of Langdale's orchestra. Presented on 2 large sheets. Ideal to picture frame toy theatre scenes...$10.00.
LANGDALES FLAT VICTORIA THEATRE: printed with perspective elements to give 3D effect. Ideal for picture frame presentation of Toy Theatre scenes. Two large sheets. $10.00.
THE OLD GEORGE THEATRE 1812 By J. K. GREEN: This is a restoration of the earliest known Toy Theatre by Green; published on January 1, 1812. It is reprinted with an extra crop curtain (to enable the proscenium opening to be made up rectangular rather than square) and a copy of Green's New Stage Orchestra shaded to match the front. It is intended to be a flat front and is printed on 2 large sheets... $10.00.
THE LLOYD THEATRE from EBENEZER SKELT: appeared under the headline "Skelt's new improved stage front to be used flat or built" in about 1865 but it was previously published by Robert Lloyd at least 30 years before. The original had a pediment, omitted by Skelt, but restored in Langdale's version. It is a very fine proscenium and is printed with a specially restored copy of Green's contemporary 1834 orchestra on 2 large sheets....$10.00.
THE BOYS OF ENGLAND THEATRE 1867: published by Edwin Brett in his "Boys of England" magazine and is a perfect presentation for "The Miller and his Men" which came in the same periodical a little latter. It is an interesting front which, like Brett's plays, is different from the mainstream tradition. It can be used flat or built up and is printed on one sheet without an orchestra. (See orchestras under Miscellaneous)....$8.00.
THEATRE SPLENDID FROM HOGARTH HOUSE 1870 WAS ORIGINALLY SOLD WITH A BOYS MAGAZINE, "Tyburn Dick". It makes up into a very splendid theatre, hence its name, either flat or 3D. Its decorations suit it particularly to Shakespearian plays. Printed on 2 large sheets without an orchestra (See orchestra under Misc.) $10.00
H.C. CLARKE'S LARGE THEATRE PROSCENIUM 1880 a most handsome theatre
front whether used flat (having perspective elements in it) or made up
incorporating a finely drawn orchestra. It is presented on 3 large sheets
which include notes and a small copy of the front...$12.00.

MISCELLANEOUS LANGDALE ITEMS. Stephen Langdale suggests that a popular
way of exhibiting toy theatre material is to make up a scene and characters
in a shallow box frame and display it, sometimes with low watt lighting,
in a theatre front as a frame and hang as a picture.
